Cathy grinned as the girl finally opened the door.
"So, like I asked before, what's your name? And also, just out of curiosity, why are you here in Inkopolis?"

The Octoling hesitated for a moment before answering: "It's Mornica... and..." She frowned, glancing away from Cathy. Keeping her outside for this long was impolite. Besides, was this really something she wanted to talk about in this exact spot? It was probably weird to any "normal" person. She stepped back and opened the door a bit more. "Do you wanna come in?" And then she realized: "I mean, I'm still unpacking, so it's a bit of a mess, so, uh..." Her eyes darted back and forth as if looking for the right words. "Yeah."

"Yes please!" Cathy replied politely, "Oh, I don't mind mess. To be honest, my apartment looks like a pigsty most of the time."
Cathy stepped inside the girl's apartment, and immediately found out why it was the most expensive one in Flounder Heights.
"By the way, Mornica sounds like a very unique name," Cathy stated cheerily, "Not like plain old 'Cathy' at all!"

A pigsty? How... honest of her. She wasn't ashamed of that at all? If Mornica had guests over with a "pigsty" of an apartment, she would have a panic attack, but this girl was just playing it off like it was no big deal. How could anyone be so casual?
She let Cathy observe her apartment, which looked a lot bigger than it would be once everything was unpacked. The living area had been mostly set up already with her computer desk, a couch, a decent-sized TV her parents had bought her a few years ago, and a bookshelf against the back wall. Beyond that was the kitchen/dining area that was still mostly boxes, a table, and some matching chairs. Down a short hallway from the living room were the bathroom, the laundry room, and Mornica's bedroom, the only other room that was even close to being properly unpacked. Besides the bookshelf and window, the newly painted walls were barren. Maybe Mornica should have invested in some pictures or something...
She sort of stared at Cathy at her comment about her name, unsure of how to respond at first. After a few seconds, she averted her gaze and scratched the back of her head under her tentacles, pale face flushed. "Well, it's not all that unique..." she mumbled. "And besides, I didn't choose it. My parents did. Uh... You want something to drink or something?"
She was still holding her bobble had in one fist tight with anxiety, but she didn't want to move to set it down just yet. That would be rude when she'd just asked a question, right?

"No thanks, I'm good."
Cathy glanced into some of the rooms, and noticed that even though there were still unpacked boxes lying around, each room looked homely and perfectly normal. Nothing could give away that Mornica had come from Octo Valley, except Mornica herself.
"So, uh..." Cathy began, trying to think of an interesting conversation, "Who protects you? I mean, who convinces the government that you can be trusted? Well, that is if the government know you're here..."
Cathy seriously doubted that they didn't, but it seemed better to ask than to jump to a conclusion.

Quickly, almost too quickly, Mornica stepped back so she could set her bobble hat on her desk after Cathy had answered her offer. She wasn't quite sure of what to do next, so she just kind of stood there by her desk as silence filled the room for several uncomfortable seconds. Fortunately—if that was the right word to use in this context—Cathy broke the silence with a question. "Y-Yeah, the government knows I'm here," Mornica said. "I've been here since I was a baby. I was—kind of adopted." Only "kind of adopted." Yeah, that made sense to a normal person, but how else was Mornica supposed to describe being found abandoned on a battlefield as a baby and taken in by Inkling parents? Well, besides saying it like that, maybe... (( OOC: Cathy Super-sorry I took six million years to reply! I got caught up in a bunch of other stuff and maybe kind of forgot about this website for a while. T_T ))
