[attr="class","cas-link"] i'm a bad kid, i'm disastrous i don't know wrong from right [attr="class","landfill-scroll"]"Sorry, kid. Club's full."
While he was far from unused to hearing those words, they were enough to make him give a frustrated groan. The bouncer, an unimpressed-looking hammerhead shark, crossed his arms over his chest and stared down at Casper, his walleyed gaze boring into the blue Inkling.
Though at least two feet taller than him, Cas appeared less intimidated by the shark and more frustrated. Incredulously, he persisted, "Seriously? Dude, there's gotta be room for one more person in there -- come on!" He hadn't gone out on a Friday night just to loiter, after all.
In spite of Casper's insisting, however, the bouncer appeared to have no intentions of budging. Apathetically, he replied in that same rough voice, "Not tonight, small fry. Better luck next time." From the building behind the shark, the sound of upbeat music and voices could be heard, as if mocking Casper's inability to get inside.
Increasingly annoyed, he gave a harsh scoff and turned, kicking at the pavement at his feet. "Fine," Cas grumbled, tucking his hands into the pockets of his jacket and starting grumpily down the alley. "Probably would've been lame, anyways." Pressing his lips to a thin line, he hung his head and chewed at the inside of his cheek, frowning. Now what? | commentary |

| You can count on me to misbehave; | CHROM's COMMENTS ― TOTALLY DUDE!! ❤ 4 ↩️ 2 | Late Friday nights seemed to be both the worst and the best time for late-night trips in the other areas of Inkopolis. The parties here in Daggertooth were great, but the timing you had to get down? Not so much. A late bus had doomed Blake to arriving late to the district; postponing the time he could of used to wait in line and get into the local club. Apparently one of the supposed parties would take place there tonight.
It stood just in front of him, but Blake had stopped himself from going any further, seeing an Inkling have his word with the bouncer.
Orange headphones were slowly taken off his own head as he wished to lean in and listen with peaked interest. Both of the stern voices of the participants easily informed him that lateness took its toll on this arrival. Neither him nor the blue Inkling would be able to get in tonight.
Disappointment from this result just only began to set in, before he noticed the stranger turning his way. As to not be awkward or rude, he stopped staring at them and nodded as they walked out of the alley.
But damn, this guy didn't look half bad. Perhaps this day wasn't going to end sour after all.
"...So, the Club's packed? That stinks," he said to them, leaning against the wall, "maybe now it would be best to get outta here before your pretty face gets harmed, eh?" |

[attr="class","cas-link"] i'm a bad kid, i'm disastrous i don't know wrong from right [attr="class","landfill-scroll"]Already the disappointment was settling in place of his frustration. He had half the mind to go back and give that shark a piece of his mind, but he knew it wouldn't do any good, and it wouldn't change the fact that he'd gone out of his way for nothing, either. Daggertooth District wasn't exactly the best place to go for a nighttime walk, and he'd no intentions of sticking around long enough for something to happen like last time he'd been here. So much for that.
He'd been so occupied with his sulking that he didn't notice Blake's presence until the other Inkling spoke up, his words catching Cas off guard in more ways than one. Dubiously, he stopped in mid-step and turned to face the orange Inkling, an inquiring air about him. Brow lifting, he blinked, all the more surprised by Blake's words, and hesitated, as if unsure whether or not he'd heard him correctly.
Though it took a moment, the surprise eventually drained from his expression and he grinned, looking suddenly amused. 'Pretty', huh? That was certainly a first. He'd take a compliment when he was given one, though - he was almost inclined to return the favor, but... He brushed the thought off, thinking better of it. No need to go and make things weird, anyway; it had probably just been a passing comment.
"Yeah, well... it probably would've sucked, anyways. I've got better things to do, so I'm not worried," he said, and though a moment ago he'd been fairly disheartened, the feeling seemed to have lifted fairly quickly. "You weren't going, too, were you? Maybe we could hang out or something instead." | commentary |

| You can count on me to misbehave; | CHROM's COMMENTS ― he didnt expect to get this far tbh ❤ 4 ↩️ 2 | Blake stopped, taking a good minute to think about Casper's suggestion. He wasn't so sure if he took his compliment right, or if he was one of those oblivious types. Going with the former, as he liked the idea more, he shrugged.
Not coming here very often (only really to go to parties), Blake didn't know the place well. Even though he was the reckless type, the place just seemed boring for anything else.
...Until now. Man, he was pretty much alone with the other, no people in the streets to see or hear anything that he did. Or whatever they did. No wonder why so many of those stories took place in empty cities and streets. Nobody could stop them, except maybe for--
He bit his lip, stopping that train of thought. Didn't want to give Casper the wrong idea of him by taking so long to reply, or gazing down.
Still, one problem remained. The bouncer was most likely staring at them both right now, about to yell at the Inklings to 'piss off'. Many tended to be like that, and wouldn't mind hitting you hard if you refused. Not in the fun way, but rather in a straight trip to the hospital way. And that was the last thing Blake wanted. Ever.
"Mmhmm, I was...But it doesn't really matter now! Let's do that." he quickly looked down the alley. "But maybe somewhere else? I don't think that shark wants us standing around his club."

[attr="class","cas-link"] i'm a bad kid, i'm disastrous i don't know wrong from right [attr="class","landfill-scroll"]Evidently unbothered by the momentary silence which followed his suggestion, Casper merely waited in expectant silence for the orange Inkling to respond, though in the meantime he was having some thoughts of his own - even if they were of a much more innocent nature.
He doubted there was much else to do other than just talking, though perhaps this district wasn't the best place to do it. It wasn't the safest place around, after all, but for the time being he wasn't overly bothered by the thought. There was strength in numbers, at least, and this particular part of the area wasn't too shady.
It'd all be a lot less boring if he'd brought something to drink with him, though. On the bright side, the stranger seemed to be fairly laid back and friendly, not to mention they appeared to be around the same age as one another. It was just his luck he wasn't completely alone for the night, though only time would tell how smoothly things would go.
At Blake's eventual response, he realized he'd been getting a bit ahead of himself, but felt a bit of relief in knowing that at least his offer had been accepted. Upon hearing the bouncer he'd spoken to mentioned, Casper lifted his brow, returning his attention to the shark a few yards back, and scoffed when he saw him watching them. Turning his gaze elsewhere, he waved his hand dismissively and retorted, the displeasure lifting from his expression with some amusement, "To hell with what he wants, but alright; he's stinkin' the place up, anyways."
Starting off down the alley, he slipped his hands into his coat pockets and continued without looking back to make sure Blake was following, "I don't really know this place that well, though - there's not a lot to do, 'specially when the clubs are all packed. Whatever." Drawing a breath, he leaned back a bit as he walked, then glanced towards Blake and said, grinning, "Name's Casper, by the way. What's yours?" | commentary |

| You can count on me to misbehave; | CHROM's COMMENTS ― I WARNED YOU ABOUT BLAKE BRO!!! I TOLD YOU DOG! ❤ 4 ↩️ 2 | He perked up as he noticed Cas motioning for him to come over, away from the club and out of the alley, and began to do so.
Blake chuckled. "Y'know, I wonder what kinda stick those bouncers have shoved up their asses to make them so angry all the time. Dude wouldn't mind killin' us right now, probably."
Following Casper into the streets, he surveyed the area and the buildings surrounding them both. Another thing that was annoying about Daggertooth was that all of the buildings looked the damn same. Dark brown walls, broken windows, everything that had the "dangerous city" vibe, and more. Honestly, the latter wasn't so bad, considering how nasty the creatures here could be. If that shark was any marker, of course.
What other stuff did live here, though? Sharks, whales, and maybe even Octarians. Well, as long as none of them imposed on his da- erm, hanging out, he didn't give a crap. They, too, could just fuck off for the night. He was busy. More important things were to be thought of and done. Much nicer things.....
Anyways, he wasn't so sure of where exactly the both of them were to go now. Clubs all over definitely now had been packed, so the best option was to....do whatever. Besides, plans were dumb and took too much work. Why confine yourself to a set of goals all the time?
"Eh, me neither. Gotta go with what this street gives us, I guess," he responded, giving Casper a large, friendly smile. "Oh, I'm Blake! It's nice to meet ya!" |
