"Yeah!!!" she replied. So the group walked up the long yet winding stairs to the top of the roof. When the group reached the top, she then surveyed the general area. There were some dead potted plants and few metal boxes with big metal door and chimneys on top of them. "I hope these weren't for burning up the insane alive." she thought to herself as her phone ringed. "Can you guys go around here and look at other stuff while I take this call?" she asked the others. "It will be wonderful if you do so." she added before taking the call. (( harper Kazoo She is so relaxed right now you have no idea.)) |

Was it just because she had offered to have one of the other two go first? Or was it something else? (Corry wasn't even armed!) A long, hissing sigh left her, and Kazoo was quick to start up the rungs behind the other two, little caution in where she or how she grabbed. If she got sick from any of this, she'd put up with that later, but what was most interesting was the now.[break][break]
A brief look around left her wondering: why would the courtyard be on the roof? This seemed like a pretty big institution, so maybe that was just the nature of things, but..[break]
She glanced Corry as she spoke, raising an eyebrow into the cover of pointed bangs for a moment. There was something infinitely unsettling about that statement, and it showed in her grit fangs.[break][break]
"Don't say crap like that," Kazoo argued, grip tightening somewhat on her dynamo roller.[break][break]
"Besides, not everyone at a sanitarium is insane. Ain't very nice to lump the whole umbrella under such a word."[break][break]Was she too sensitive? Maybe. Life hadn't been too kind to her on that front, even if she'd rather go 2-13 than talk about the topic with strangers.[break]
Taking a deep breath in and out, she shrugged at the request to take a phone call (so much for being reliable, right?), and momentarily met Harper's gaze before starting to wander about the area.[break][break]
Looking past the dry potted plants and rusted storage containers, it wasn't that bad. All manner of flora had started to lay claim to what had been left behind, ivy and countless vines engulfing entire walls in their greenery while wildflowers and dandelions alike dotted the lawn. The building itself was easy on the eyes despite its age and wear, its architecture unmistakably borrowed from Western societies, and so it stood out in a dreamlike haze.[break] There was something pleasantly peaceful about this kind of decay, and so she barely wondered why it was always such a keen topic for art.[break][break]
That only made it a little more exciting to see what was inside, however!

I'm in a different place like, a place i haven't been to before Tensions were obviously getting high.
Which, in a way, was scarier than the serene building itself.
Especially concerning three almost-strangers in an even stranger environment.
"...I think those are for burning garbage?" Kal finally said after Kazoo's mild outburst. "Which makes sense. A large place like this would make a lot of garbage I'd assume..."
Aaaand everyone left to do their own thing.
No problem.
This wasn't the least bit stressful at all.
Nope.
...Maybe things will figure themselves out.
"I'll be chillin' over here if anyone needs me..!"
At least this place had a miniature playground.
...Even if it was some swings and a merry-go-round.
...And it was all covered in plants and junk...
......
Kal was probably stressing over nothing.

It took her a few seconds to start regretting snapping like that, her tentacles curling somewhat at the edges and fingernails scratching lightly at her palms. Was it too much to expect some respect in a place like this, when the other two were downright strangers? Maybe. But cooperation made for a lot more than conflict..[break][break]
"Uh. Y'done with that call? There's not much up here.. vines 'n ivy 'n a little playground. But it's a roof, so we can get inside from here," Kazoo observed, looking to Corry as they wandered close again, perhaps still a bit anxious from the remark earlier. Well, that was two of them accounted for, at least.[break][break]
"Hey, uh, Hal or whatever. Kal? You gonna come with, or stay behind and take up your new job as resident landscaper?" [break]She grinned cheekily, spinning her roller a couple times and hoping it didn't smack anyone in the face. It had happened before.[break][break]
Up ahead, there was another set of double doors, not quite as imposing as the facility's entrance from the street but still fearsome.[break][break]

They were worried over nothing!
Kazoo seemed like she cooled off, Corry was done of the phone call, everything was good.
"Hmmm...maybe. I'm more of a mechanic, but I can try landscaping..!" Grabbing their splatling, Kal got off the swing and headed over to the other two. "Anything would be chill to be honest."
Deep, deep down inside Kal hoped that there'd be some old boxes to rummage through. Nothing was more exciting than treasure, even if it was from an old sanitarium.
And even deeper down inside, Kal was remembering every horror movie and horror game they've ever watched and played.
It wasn't a fun time.
"...So..who's going first..? I vote anyone but me."

Well, she couldn't really blame Kal too terribly on that front. There wasn't any knowing what was beyond those doors... but that was what made it super exciting. Sure, maybe there was something terrifying, but maybe there would be something super cool! [break]
(Of course, her idea of cool wasn't the most traditional one.)[break][break]
"I got dibs on going in first!" Kazoo called out, bobbing on her feet and spinning her massive roller a couple times in her palms. [break][break]"That way, if I find anything super whacky, I'll call out just so that nobody ends up faintin' from what they don't expect."[break][break]
Under her shoving approach, the dusty double doors gave way with a long creak, hanging on hinges that clearly hadn't been used for years and showed that age in rust. Opening them just wide enough to accommodate her, Kazoo poked her head inside, magenta eyes alight in the low light.[break][break]
The first thing that struck her was the sheer dustiness of it all, the scene utterly musty. Breath snuffling as she clicked her teeth in distaste, she took a cautious step forth, grip tightening on the rubber handle of her dynamo.[break][break]
It didn't look very unusual from any typical hospital's waiting room. Beneath the dust there was thin carpet, eaten away by time here and there; the metal backings of chairs had their fair share of rust among withered and moth-eaten cushions. The front desk probably hadn't been manned in a good long time, and she was soon drawn over to start examining the abandoned papers that spilled here and there.[break][break]
"Hey, 's safe, c'mon in!" she announced, looking back outside.[break][break]
"Just a waitin' room. Weird place for one, though.."

In this area of the building? Shouldn't have been closer to the entrance? Well that wasn't creepy at all.
Kal hesitated for a few moments before walking into the room, watching the dust still settle from Kazoos bold entrance.
"I'd be surprised if we didn't get sick from this...hey, look at these magazines!"
Even if there wasn't a thick layer of dust over the covers, it was obvious that the magazines were old with such titles as "Rising stars, Callie and Marie!" and "Octarians; Dangerous and Devious?".
"How long do you think this place has been deserted? Or do you think they just never got around to getting new magazines...?"
