I'm in a different place like, a place i haven't been to before Well this wasn't dangerous at all
Nope, not one bit.
Actually, the old building looked happy and cheerful and totally not a death trap, nope.
"I can't believe I'm doing this.." Kal mumbled, casually twirling the nozzles of their Hydra Splatling.
It hadn't been the first time Kal had been in the infamous Daggertooth District, but it was still as scary as ever. Especially the building that loomed over both them and their company. Well, it wasn't scary.
It was terrifying.
"Apparently it's an old factory....or a hospital.....or was it an asylum..?" Their attempt at lightening the mood only made them more tense.
"...So, uh...you ready...? I'm not."

There was a very strange vibe to this building, like if it were drawing you in. This was one of the weird things about daggertooth district's many abandoned buildings. This one in particular had an even weird and strange look to it. After all, this was most of the buildings in this part of town. But she was very used to this stuff, after all they used to stalk/live around these parts back then. "Well good thing you got me here." she says to them "After all, I used to live in this part of town." she then says as they hold their octobrush on their back. It was a bit humbling that she came here so she can remember how far they came from being in a poor neighborhood to living with her roommate in flounder heights. The weird thing is that this building used to hold small apartments or something like that. She really didn't know what this building really was. "Ready." she then answered. Always with the horrible timing, it seemed! Whether it was missing the rotations she liked the most, forgetting to tape the show she wanted to catch, or downright overlooking that her ride would be there soon enough, it was always the matter of time with Kazoo.[break][break]
Today wasn't any different: she had started off towards Piranha Pit for some casual turfing so she could practice with her shiny new golden dynamo roller, but matches were canceled due to "complications that may endanger public safety". All the news outlets were keeping it hush-hush, but a quick internet search turned up that it was apparently agent business. She wanted to watch, but didn't want to end up getting in the way..[break][break]
That just figured, right? And so the grumpy blue inkling started for home-- before stopping to quietly watch a couple of squids (?) gathered around a nearby building. Was there something up? With a curious little smile, Kazoo meandered closer, her roller slung comfortably over her shoulder.[break][break]
"Haha, dude, what's this?" she laughed, glancing over the tea-green inkling and .. other? The other one didn't look exactly like an inkling or an octoling, closer to the first but not exactly. Close enough, really, she didn't care.[break][break]
"Ohh, yeah.. Sailfin Sanitarium, or something? This place's been here awhile, I remember when it closed. Found some folks dead from neglect, 'pparently."[break][break]
That last part was a joke. Not exactly the nicest one, but the whole setting was a bit dark to begin with. She did, however, certainly remember when it had shut down-- she was still in 3SC* care back then, and there were a few children that were brought in! Not too easy to forget all the new faces.[break][break]
"Were you two gonna go explore?! 'cuz that sounds awesome!"[break][break]
Kazoo was rather hoping she wasn't imposing, the two were probably close friends or something and had planned this in advance. But the enthusiasm and curiosity was too much to resist, and she had nothing else to do with her night!

Outward being the key word.
"Haha, dude, what's this?"
Well that was a surprise.
A shocking surprise at that.
A big enough surprise that Kal started revving up the Splatling for self-defense.
Thank god it was just a friendly-looking Inkling.
"Sailfin Sanitarium? Alright, sounds chill eno-- ....oh."
You could have pinpointed the exact moment that all of Kals false courage left their body.
"...You want to come join..? Sure, why not, the more the merrier, you and Corrin-- I can call you that, right?-- can go ahead because I just realized I have to text a squid or two or something."
Hopefully whatever, if anything, was in the building couldn't smell fear.

When she heard that this was the old sanitarium, she replied "I've heard many different things about it." Her old gang used to hold secret meetings near the place but has not been inside there yet. She had heard many stories about the place but wasn't sure about it. This would be the time to find out the true nature of the place. When they said to go ahead of them, they said "Sure! You can also call me Corry if you want." "Follow me." she said to the dark blue inkling as they opened the door. (( harper Kazoo *gulps out of nervousness*)) |

The telltale sound of a splatling revving put Kazoo quite on-edge for a moment, her breath catching uneasily and posture starting to shift in preparation to flee, but thankfully it died down before any shots could be fired. Giving the green inkling a brief smile of apology over startling them, she adjusted her hat somewhat.[break][break]
"Hehe. Yup. Some say that those patients never really passed on, and are looking to take revenge on the doctors that abandoned them," she explained with a wink. She'd barely been here more than a few minutes, and already she was being a bad influence: awesome. Seriously, though, there was so much comedic potential in telling spooky ghost stories.[break][break]
"Yeah, I'll totally come with the two of ya'! I was on my way to go turfing, but.. it got canceled. So now I'm stuck out here with this bigass roller and all my cool clothes. Name's Kazoo, bee-tee-dubs."[break][break]
Hefting the roller over her shoulder into a more comfortably-resting position, Kazoo started behind the other blueish inkling, taking a few steps inside before looking back to the green one. She figured she'd at least wait and keep an eye on them; this wasn't the best neighborhood, and leaving someone outside for even just a few seconds was.. not the best idea. She'd seen her fair share of fights, and they rarely ended smoothly.[break][break]

Corrin poked their head into the door a bit to see nothing but a small, dark hallway filled with cobwebs. "Oh boy, we're in for some interesting things ahead of us." she thought to herself. So she decided to lean against the wall of the building and looked on their phone just to be sure that it was on silent. It was good thing she checked her phone when a text from their friend popped up and she then responded to it. She then sat down and rested her head on the wall. "Alright, I think I regained my nerves so lets see if we can't find anything cool up in here."
It was much more...vandalized than they had expected. Different quotes and symbols were sprayed onto the walls in a variety of ink colours, some more harmless than others.
Though it seemed that there was nothing on the walls further down the halls, almost like no one dared go down that far...
Odd.
"So...uh...how are we gonna go about doing this? Split up, stay as a group, leave this place before we get killed..? I vouch for anything but splitting up, personally."

After Kal had followed them inside, Kazoo took her time to glance around. It was dusty and a little boring, but the graffiti definitely livened things up a bit, and she could identify a few of the marks on the wall. Her gaze lingered a couple moments longer on a distinct black and blue omega symbol-- she could've sworn she had seen that exact logo on some of her roommate's letters? A soft "hm" left her before she looked back to the other two.[break][break]
When Corry spoke up, she ground her teeth a little: it was always a bit threatening in feeling to have someone younger making decisions for the group. She was probably the oldest here, quite possibly the one with the greatest reflexes, and the S-rank, so it was going to be her job to stay in charge.[break][break]
"I don't see why we shouldn't stick together. It'd be just beggin' for trouble," Kazoo answered, slowly spinning her roller in the idleness. [break][break]
"But I wouldn't worry. Anything scary in there won't be able to handle being smashed in the face with a dynamo. I got this."[break]She beamed proudly then and went to lead the way. The hallway stretched on, vacant and steadily graying the further it went, but there was a dull light at the far end. Did it open up back above ground, or were there some old lamps never extinguished?

She looked on the walls and happened to gaze at her old gang's tagging. She felt a massive amount of memories coming to her and felt happy. "Yup." she said to Kazoo. She then added "Or maybe get slapped in the face multiple times with a octobrush." She then saw a faint orange glow in the distance and thought to herself "I hope no one is here with us." The light up ahead wasn't comforting in the slightest. Was someone in the building with them? That was the most probable answer in Kal's eyes.
After all, weren't the windows boarded up?
And why would an old building still have electricity?
But they'd be fine, right? It's not like the three of them were in a life or death situation.
And if the worst came, then they were (probably) more than prepared to beat the living hell out of anything that dared showed its face.
"...This reminds me of that one game. Infirst or something like that. You play as a reporter going into an old asylum to try and figure out some mystery around it or something..."

It was slow going, but she didn't mind terribly much: everything seemed interesting enough to make it a worthwhile walk. Magenta eyes scanned every pipe, the occasional locked and forgotten door, her instincts plotting out potential hiding spots or places that might hold a fun experience. And this was just the very beginning![break][break]
"'twould be pretty cool if there was, actually. Maybe some other explorin' kids, or a janitor with rad stories to tell. We're walking on history, y'know?" Kazoo answered, her cheery grin unchanged. There wasn't any reason to be afraid of whatever there was down here, only plenty of ones to be amazed and fascinated. [break][break]
"After all, it's dusty 'n rusty enough t'say that this place hasn't been used for a long time. Maybe even years."[break][break]
After a couple minutes, she stopped before the source of the light: it was an old lantern, glowing a dilapidated yellow in the gloom. Its illumination revealed a passage that lead straight upwards by means of metal rungs built into the wall; a sign of the same make was proud to announce "To Courtyard".[break][break]
"Rad. Who wants to go first? Step lightly, y'don't want to get tetanus."[break][break]
The funny part was that she wasn't even sure if inklings could get tetanus, it was more of a marine mammal thing from what she had heard. But it was funny anyways.

Like something you'd see in an action movie.
...But letting Corry go first wasn't a bad idea either.
The pseudo-inkling seemed like they could handle anything waiting up ahead much better than Kal or Kazoo could, after all.
Plus Corry offered to lead them.
You can't say no to an offer.
"Go ahead, Corry. Lead us into the unknown with bravery and valour..!"
