Torrent had come to this place many times before, but this was the first time he made the trip alone. In the past, he had always had his friend Jackal with him, the two sneaking into octovalley to cause some havoc before disappearing into the night. Ever since Jackal had left, Torrent was hesitant to return to this place. But he needed to know where Jackal had gone, and this place could hold a hint to his friend's whereabouts. Well, that's what Torrent had hoped he'd find. But after spending a good portion of the day sneaking around the crumbling octodomes looking for clues, he finally decided that today wouldn't be the day he learned anything new.
He sighed and found the kettle that returned him to the surface. He was generally very careful when he came here, he knew civilians weren't to go near here and that they had regular patrols of agents come through to check that all was as it should be. But he knew the patterns that the patrols of agents took, and knew when there was a gap in the surveillance when a squid could slip in and out undetected. Though, it was true he hadn't been here in a long time. He had hoped that the patrols hadn't switched up on him, or had become more frequent. He remained cautious and hidden for a while, before he thought that the old pattern he could remember was still being used. He relaxed and leaned against a nearby wall, rubbing the back of his neck as he got lost in thoughts of the clues he already had and the leads he still needed to check on.

[attr="class","landfill-link"] wake me up when it's all over when i'm wiser and i'm older [attr="class","landfill-scroll"]This wasn't really the worst thing he could have been set out to do. He could be doing real field missions.
However, as a rookie Agent, Sheep was instead set to do surface rounds. The job was simple; 'Patrol the surface area and keep an eye out for suspicious activity. Should any be sighted, take care of it, and report to the superiors.'
'Suspicious activity' could have been classified as anything. From a civillian entering the kettles, to something as threatening as an Octoling attempting to escape; the latter of which Sheep was definitely most afraid of encountering. It was true that not many of them would even dare to try and approach while an Agent was on patrol, but Sheep still couldn't shake the feeling of being in constant danger.
Nevertheless, he pressed on. If Herdwick had gotten this job, (like he should have), he wouldn't quit out of fear! Sheep simply had to keep his chin up.
The orange Inkling, Hero's Shot in hand, begun his patrol of the perimeter. Keeping a sharp eye out for any sort of movement, he marched along, passing what seems to have been a very tall person, and--
Wait.
"Who-who goes there?!" The boy shouted, his voice cracking embarrassingly. He wheeled around to face Torrent, pointing his weapon straight at him.

Torrent jumped a bit at being jolted so suddenly from his thoughts by a young kid pointing a hero shot at him. He shrugged and put his hands up by his head in a show of peace. The kid was clearly decked out in agent attire, the triangular headset and neon reflective vest a dead give away. Torrent chewed on his lip a bit, his mind racing to try and come up with a way out of this that didn't involve fighting, but he stopped when he took more notice of the kid in front of him.
At first glance, Torrent could tell the kid was young, but now that he looked a moment longer, well, this kid couldn't have been older than 16! Not only that, but he was shaking like a leaf as he tried very hard to look authoritative. Torrent could almost hear his knees knocking together, and with how much his hands were trembling, Torrent doubted he could even aim well enough to hit him.
"Ey, watch where ye point that thing! Could take someone's eye out if yer not careful." Torrent chuckled in a friendly manner. "Ye can lower yer gun, I wont be causin' any trouble."

[attr="class","landfill-link"] wake me up when it's all over when i'm wiser and i'm older [attr="class","landfill-scroll"]Well, at least he wasn't an Octarian. So perhaps he could handle this...
...But by the Great Zapfish's whiskers, was he huge! Sheep had to really look up in order to look him in the eye. He hadn't seen an Inkling so large since meeting his old babysitter's father; and even then, he wasn't this large.
"I... Er... I-I...!!" Sheep stuttered for words, partway out of fear, and partway out of having no idea what to say in a professional sense. 'Take care of it' wasn't exactly the clearest order. And even though this man clearly stated he wouldn't cause trouble, Sheep still remained uncertain. After all, what could a few poorly-aimed shots possibly do against somebody like this?
"N-no, but-- Y-you're like... not supposed to be here! N' stuff..." He finally managed to choke out, gun shaking and brows furrowed in an expression of nervousness. "It's really dangerous! And, uh... Yeah!"

Torrent quirked an eyebrow and smothered the smile that wanted to creep onto his lips at how hard this kid was trying, even though he seemed scared out of his wits. Trying to do what was right in the face of something you were afraid of took a certain kind of courage and bravery that Torrent respected. He sighed, knowing full well he'd been caught red handed some place he wasn't supposed to be, and he knew he would have to face the repercussions later, so at this point he didn't really have any other reason to stick around. But....this kid....something about this kid made him hesitant to leave right away.
"Ah yeah, this place is pretty dangerous....Makes me wonder what a kid like yerself is doin' tryin' his hand at bein' an agent." Torrent leaned back against the wall again, crossing his arms in front of him and looking curiously at Sheep. "Ye don't seem too keen on this whole agent business, if how nervous ye are is any measure. So, why risk yerself?"

[attr="class","landfill-link"] wake me up when it's all over when i'm wiser and i'm older [attr="class","landfill-scroll"]"Hey! I'm not nervous!!"
Sheep said this, but only seconds later realized how much his hands had been trembling. Heck, the grip he had on his gun was enough to leave an imprint on his hands; in fact, it had. There was definitely no use lying now.
"Okay..." Sheep gave a defeated sigh, lowering the weapon and loosening his stance significantly. "I'm crazy nervous. I didn't wanna even be here, y'know?" Something he should not have admitted out loud, really; an agent was supposed to be committed to the job at all costs.
"But the guys, like, mixed somethin' up. They were s'posed to hire my brother, but they hired me instead. We look a lot alike, so..." Sheep glanced off to the side, using one arm to rub the other. "They would've fixed the mistake, but Herdwick moved to the next city with my sister, and he didn't wanna come back. So I decided take his place n' stuff..."
After a moment, Sheep wiped his sullen expression away in favour of a more determined one. "But it's fine! I'm sure he's proud! This Agent stuff is all for a great cause!" One that he wanted no part in, but he wasn't about to say that.

[attr="class","fighting-link"] From zero to hero in no time flat. Zero to hero just like that! Torrent gave a small smile when he saw Sheep let his defenses drop. He listened intently to what Sheep said, a look of concern spreading across his face as he heard the kind of situation this young kid seems to have been forced into. His lip curled up in a snarl for a moment even when he heard how this kid's older brother had left and let this young one deal with such big problems on his own. Torrent had left his siblings too, and in ways had left them with his previous problems, and he always felt guilty about it. But he had tried to make sure that they never felt abandoned by him. He kept regular contact with them when he could, and though he knew their parents would never let them see him in person, he still called and wrote them often to listen to their own problems and offer them solace and a confidant that wouldn't judge them for showing weakness. So Torrent gave Sheep a very skeptical look when he mentioned that this work was "all for a great cause".
"Kid, ye and I both know that ye don't believe a word of what ye just said. I could practically hear the lie in that statement." Torrent stood up and clapped a hand on Sheep's shoulder. "Look, I can tell ye've got some heavy stuff on yer mind. I ain't got nothin' t' do, and I can already tell ye there ain't nobody but us 'round here since I been here most of the day and haven't seen or heard nothin' but the creaking, crumbling domes beneath us. Not even an Octarian would be so dumb as t' risk goin' into those hazards. So, why don't we sit 'n chat fer a moment? It does ye no good t' keep those feelin's bottle up ye know?" paint. [attr="class","landfill-link"] wake me up when it's all over when i'm wiser and i'm older [attr="class","landfill-scroll"]Sheep's brow shot up as Torrent practically called him out on his lie. He fully expected Torrent to brush it off and move on, as others usually did. So much so, he flinched when the other's hand landed on his shoulder.
Wide green eyes stared up at him in awe. "Wow... you're really good." He said with a halfhearted chuckle.
Sheep looked around briefly, as though checking for anyone else. He had just started his shift, so it wasn't too likely that anyone would pop in on him uninvited. And although he had just met this man, he somehow trusted his words. Despite his appearance, and rather intimidating accent, he really seemed like a nice person. What could it hurt?
"I-- I guess it couldn't hurt... I never really thought about talkin' bout this stuff before." He didn't really realize it had bothered him so much either. "If-if you're like. Really sure about it n' stuff."

[attr="class","fighting-link"] From zero to hero in no time flat. Zero to hero just like that! Torrent grinned at the nervous kid.
"Hah! Call it practice. Ye don't go through life with two younger sisters without learnin' how t' tell when somethin's botherin' them. And of course I'm sure! It's ah...like I said, I ain't got nothin' better t' be doin' with myself. I'd rather be helpin' where I can than sittin' on my butt all day." Torrent gestured over to a bench across from where they were standing. It looked like this place used to be part of some kind of skate park before it started falling apart, with concrete half pipes and skate bowls scattered around.
Torrent knew he really had no business poking into this kid's history, but his brotherly instincts were telling him that this kid needed someone to talk to. And, truth be told, ever since Jackal disappeared and Peppermint and Cinnamon weren't allowed to contact him anymore, Torrent was pretty lonely these days. He was still making his way in the turf war world, and though he was rising fast because of all of his prior training, he had no team to play with and most people were scared off by his intimidating appearance and clear Daggertooth District accent. In fact, this was the first conversation he'd had with anyone that lasted longer than the standard courtesy one had when engaging in a conversation. Torrent tried to not let it bother him, since he understood why most people weren't keen on talking to him, but the lack of personal contact was really starting to affect him. Sheep is so friggin cute wth paint. [newclass=".fighting-link a"]font-size:12px;font-family:dosis;font-weight:bold;color:#6c6c6c!important;text-transform:uppercase;[/newclass]

It wasn't as though he felt he couldn't talk to his mother about these things. Well... yes, that actually was how he felt. Being an Agent was supposed to be something he kept under wraps, he was told. Technically, he really wasn't allowed to speak of it.
But perhaps he could make the exception here...
Sheep told Torrent everything that happened to him in the past few months. The disappearance and falling-out with his friends, the scrutiny he faced from his peers, and then how his older brother had suddenly shut everyone out and moved away. He admitted that he hadn't actually been able to contact Herdwick at all since then, and how even his older sister has hardly seen him.
Sheep admitted, that he felt abandoned by everyone.

[attr="class","fighting-link"] From zero to hero in no time flat. Zero to hero just like that! Torrent could tell Sheep was still hesitant, but could still tell that the kid was exhausted and clearly a little fed up with trying to fit a role he was not comfortable with. Torrent recognized that body language, he recognized it in himself when he still lived with his family. He waited patiently for Sheep to come forth with whatever he felt comfortable sharing.
It seemed once the kid started a dam burst, Sheep speaking of all the horrors he'd endured silently over the past months. Torrent waited silently and listened patiently, though he began grinding his teeth with anger the more and more Sheep told him. Sympathy was building as Torrent could relate to the loneliness of losing friends and isolation. This kid was clearly dealt an unjust hand, but that wasn't the thing that enraged Torrent the most. It was this older brother that really caused the defensive anger to well up in the older inkling. Torrent felt his brotherly instincts flaring up for this kid over the actions of this "Herdwick" brother of his. Despite his distance from his own family, Torrent tried his hardest to be present and active in his sister's lives. He had very strong views on what it meant to be an older brother, and those kinds of values to him meant being there for his siblings through thick and thin. To abandon his siblings to Torrent was an unforgivable act. But Torrent held his tongue and waited for Sheep to finish his story.
Finally when Sheep had finished letting out his tirade of events and emotions, a long, heavy pause stretched between the two. Finally, Torrent broken the silence by reaching out and grabbing Sheep's wrist, tugging the kid to sit down next to Torrent on the bench next to him. He wrapped his arm around Sheep's shoulders comfortingly without saying anything, hoping to convey to the smaller inkling a sense of sympathy and concern. Finally Torrent sighed heavily before speaking.
"That's some bullshit ye've had t' deal with, ain't it? Certainly not somethin' a kid like you shouldn't ever have t' deal with alone." Torrent ran a hand over his head, tugging on his torn tentacle especially. "And trust me, I can understand losin' people ye thought ye were close to, and feelin' alone. I've lost some people very close to me, too. And as fer yer big brother, he sounds like he deserves a good smackin' around. He don't even deserve t' be called a brother. Ye don't just give up and abandon the people yer supposed t' love just because things get a little rough. Yer supposed to love and support each other, not get up and leave." Torrent growled the last bit through gritted teeth. He took a deep breath though and clapped Sheep on the shoulder and smiled warmly at him. "And I know how tough life can be, and I know ye can't keep goin' around keepin' it bottled up. So how about some time I can take ye t' get some ice cream or whatever ye might like so ye can have someone t' talk to about these things? Of course, that's only if ye want to, but I'm willin' t' listen if ye need to let those feelings out. As a big brother m'self, I wont go talkin' to anyone else about it. Cross my heart and hope t' die." He said with a wink as he raised his right arm and crossed his heart with his finger. [attr="class","landfill-link"] wake me up when it's all over when i'm wiser and i'm older [attr="class","landfill-scroll"]Once Sheep had finished relaying everything to Torrent (which had been emotionally taxing in of itself), he gave a rather confused look to him once the man gave those comforting gestures. More-so out of surprise than anything; he would not have expected a complete stranger like this to be so affectionate.
Regardless, he didn't seem to mean any ill will...
"I'm sorry, sir... You must'a been through way more..." Sheep muttered, suddenly feeling rather awful. He'd just dumped his problems on a person who's clearly seen far worse days. And yet, Torrent continued.
Sheep gave an awkward smile. "Aw, I don't wanna hurt Herdwick. He's always been kinda moody since..." Sheep trailed off, and furrowed his brow. He sighed deeply, processing his thoughts carefully before continuing. It seemed he was holding back tears, now.
"Uh... I mean, w-we didn't always get along the greatest. But he still defended me a lot when things were getting rough. Maybe I did somethin' to make him mad... I dunno..." Sheep shrugged, sniffling a little.
Sheep glanced up at Torrent at his last words, however. The offer sounded nice; almost too nice. Having someone to talk to about these sorts of things may make the Agent job a little more bearable. And ice cream was always a plus. Maybe Lady Luck was finally shining down on him.
"You really mean that, mister...?" Sheep gave a big grin to Torrent. "That'd be real swell, lemme tell ya..."

[attr="class","fighting-link"] From zero to hero in no time flat. Zero to hero just like that! It was odd, Torrent felt strangely drawn to helping out this kid, despite having only just met him. Something about him just made Torrent want to help him. Torrent didn't dwell on this for too long, however, and just chalked it up to "big brother instincts". He frowned a bit as Sheep apologized for unloading his problems to Torrent. The bigger inkling waved his hand dismissively at the thought of it being a problem to him.
"Hey, sufferin' ain't a contest. I been through my fair share of tough times, but that doesn't mean that what yer strugglin' with ain't valid. Sounds t' me like everythin' ye been going through lately has been hurtin' ye, and regardless 'a what the reason is, it doesn't change how ye feels and how it hurts." Torrent's expression softened as he noticed Sheep fighting back tears.
"Kid, I've been talkin' with ye for a few minutes and already I doubt ye have a mean drop 'o ink in ye.If yer thick-headed 'brother' can't forgive ye for something ye may have done, then he must be as blind as a blobfish." Torrent reassured Sheep, setting him with a sincere look. He sighed and smiled kindly at the hopeful look Sheep gave him at the prospect of having someone to talk to.
"'Course I mean it! Ye seem like a good kid, and it's not right fer ye to suffer through tough times alone. Even the strongest inkling needs help now and then, ye know." He paused. "Plus, who doesn't like a good excuse t' go get some ice cream, right?" Torrent grinned at Sheep and ruffled his head. Sheep let the bara squid man be your new older brother pls paint.
