It was a brilliant and warm day at Mahi Mahi Resort. Catherine was here on a little weekend trip with her older brother, Cadmium. She loved these special trips they took together, and she knew how much they meant to Cadmium. Cadmium had left their parents to go live on his own when he was 16 and Catherine was only 9, but he had always made it a point to spend some time with his little sister. She knew it had to have been rough for him in the beginning, to make enough money to just continue living in his small, one room apartment, but now he and his team were pretty big! and he had enough money to afford himself a small flat outside of the inner city. He was the one paying for them to stay at this fancy-pants resort for a few days. Catherine had initially objected to him spending so much, but he insisted. They had had a wonderful time together so far, but at the moment they were apart. Catherine had scheduled her older brother a massage at the spa with her own money as a means of saying thank you. Cadmium was always so tense, she had hoped that a nice massage would do him some good.
So while he was busy, Catherine had put on a bathing suit and made her way down to the pool. There was the bigger pool used for turf wars in the very center of the area outside, it's large hydraulic platforms glistening in the sun. Currently little jellyfish kids were playing on it, since it wasn't being used for turf wars. Around the main attraction pool were several smaller pools, these ones containing a special kind of clear inkling ink that made it safe for inklings like her to take a refreshing dip without the fear of being splatted.
Despite how large the resort was, the pool area was surprisingly quite. Which was fine for Catherine, who had actually come out to sunbathe and read a book. She might go in the pool later, but she was much more interested in her book than swimming. She found a nice, comfortable deck chair and laid back, opening her book to where she had just left off and enjoying the feeling of the warm sun on her skin.

Walking out to the pool area was a blue inkling boy with a pair of swim shorts and a happy grin on his face. He was headed towards the deck chairs, but when he saw the girl inkling reading her book, he dropped to his knees, threw his fists into the air and let out a "NOOOOOOOOO!" Breaking the silence. "WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE THIS WAY?"

Catherine flinched and nearly dropped her book as an inkling boy she hadn't noticed before suddenly shouted. She clutched the book closer to her chest and stared at him for a moment in confusion. She then hesitantly opened her book to where she had left off, too spooked by this boy's sudden outburst to want to approach. In fact, she huddled behind her book a little more, hoping that this odd boy wouldn't talk to her. She didn't like how unpredictable he seemed.

Disappointed that the best sleeping spot was already taken, Casimir sets his eyes to the biggest pool. "... I guess I'll go for a swim then." He wanted to jump into it but it wouldn't make that big a splash because of his small body... His eyes darted to the roof of the resort... "When you don't have mass..."
From the roof, a squid superjumped into the air above the pool before rocketing down and turning back into humanoid form in cannonball position. "SPEED IS KEYYYYYYYY!"
Upon hitting the water, a massive swell surged and sprayed water everywhere within several meters of the pool. Including the squid that took the best spot. Casimir emerged from the water and crawled onto the deck with the tips of his tentacles slightly dissolved due to the impact but otherwise perfectly fine. "Woo! That was fun!"

Once she had found her spot once more, the odd squid was entirely forgotten. The was so absorbed in her book she didn't even notice his yelling. She did notice, however, when a huge splash of water came up and soaked her. She squealed and shrieked indignantly, then shrieked even louder when she realized her precious book had been soaked as well.
"What is your problem?! Can't you see I'm trying to read?" She yelled. "Don't you have any common courtesy?!"

Realizing that he soaked her, Casimir thought to himself. Hmm... Never thought to incorporate the splash zone before. Looking at the area he ran some calculations. Current splash zone radius... Range of angles of the sun for the next 2 hours... Behind that building.. scratch that, 1 and a half hours... Should be riiiight There! A few chairs over from the soaked inkling was the new best sleeping spot. Then he heard her screaming at him. "What is your problem?! Can't you see I'm trying to read?" She yelled. "Don't you have any common courtesy?!" Casimir flinched. "I-I'm very sorry... I just wanted to have fun. This is a resort after all. Here, you can have the new best seat, It's outside the splash radius so you should be fine."

Catherine's face flushed with embarrassment. She felt kind of bad for yelling at this squid, who just wanted to have fun, but she looked at her soggy book again and felt a bit less embarrassed about her behavior. This book had been expensive....it was a large book on some of human history's biggest accomplishments and failures. She looked at the chair the other squid was now gesturing to, but now that she and her book was wet, she didn't really want to continue reading. Instead she walked over to the chair and laid her book on it so that the sun could help dry it. Then, she turned on her heel and looked intensely at the other squid before she took a running head start and leapt into the pool as well, making sure to splash the other squid. Her head broke the surface and gasped, looking at the other squid. "There. Now we're sort-of even."

After rubbing the water out of his eyes he smiled and replied, "I guess..." He looked at the book and frowned. How can I fix this? Then he had an idea. He dashed into the resort building and emerged a few moments later with a roll of tin foil. Casimir started tearing out squares of the flimsy material and laying them on the ground in a row, leading to the chair with the book on it.

Catherine watched in complete confusion as the strange inkling got out and started laying pieces of foil out that lead to her book. "Excuse me, what are you doing?" She asked, a little concerned that he might do something else horrible to her poor book.

"I'm accelerating the drying process by collecting sunlight based on the angles the sun will be positioned in before it goes behind that building." Casimir notices your eyes widen and stops you before you can speak. "Ap-ap-ap! COLLECTING. Not magnifying. It won't set your book on fire. At most, it should just be like setting your book down on some asphalt during a heat wave." He walks over and lowers himself into the pool and swims next to you. "And if your book is still ruined after the drying, then I'll buy you a new one, no matter how much it costs. I'm sorry for what happened." Casimir adopts a somber look and heads off towards the deep end and submerges.

((Sorry for the long wait, and sorry my replies will be a bit slow. college is kicking my butt))
Catherine was a little nervous having this squid anywhere near her book, but he was trying to help and seemed legitimately sorry. She even felt kind of guilty when he slunk off and sunk below the water looking like a kicked puppy. She tip toed back over to the deep end, sat down and stuck her feet in the cool water. She kicked her feet nervously, not quite knowing how she should respond in this situation.

Grunting with each hit, Casimir stuck the bottom of the pool with a clenched fist. His expression one of fury instead of regret. "Why. Is. It. Every. Time. I. Try. To. Have. Fun. Some. Thing. Gets. Destroyed!" The tile cracks and his knuckles are bleeding into the water. I'm probably going to have to buy her a new book. All that talk about the sun is right but it would only work on the outer pages. I could get a copy from the archives... Aww man. Judd is going to chew me out for this. Casimir surfaces and slowly starts swimming in circles, just trying to relax.

Catherine had been peering down into the water, looking at the wavering shape of the boy below and chewing her lip, trying to think of the best way to apologize and let him know she wasn't really that mad. She flinched when she could feel the vibrations of something hitting something below her through the water and her eyes widened as she saw a cloudy ink color float up from the boy's shape. Did he hurt himself? Had he hit his head? Catherine worried and jumped back into the pool, sinking below the water and down to the boy. He did seem to be bleeding, but Catherine couldn't tell from where. More panicked now, she grabbed his arm and tugged, trying to bring him back up for air.

In an attempt to calm down, Casimir starts to meditate and shut out the outside world. He ignores the slowly growing pain in his lungs and stops all involuntary attempts at breathing, as well as the pain in his fingers. He even ignores the sudden pulling on his arm and soon is brought to the surface. He is floating on his back without breathing, his bleeding knuckles starting to heal already. Despite his anger a few seconds ago, Casimir seems very calm. Almost serene if it weren't for the blood on his hands.

Catherine, after much struggle (she is pretty small after all) managed to drag the strange blue boy to the surface. He just lay there, eyes closed, seemingly not even breathing. Catherine panicked even more at this observation and she struggled and pushed and paddled the blue kid to the edge of the pool and hopped out, hooking her arms under the boy's armpits and hauling him with all her strength onto the concrete. "Oh god oh god oh god please please please dont be dead. C'mon, wake up!" Catherine muttered, shaking the boy's shoulder.
