(Oh boy here I go)
Jackson MantaMute
Inkling, age 15
APPEARANCE: Jackson is average height for a squid his age. He has medium-brown skin and similarly colored eyes, the latter of which are extremely farsighted so he wears glasses to correct them. His natural hue is a neon orange, and he likes it like that. His colors form crazy patters when he's deep in sleep, however. With that said, he never remembers his dreams.
PERSONALITY: Jackson tries to keep a positive front so that others around him can be happy as much as possible. He can be found a bit dopey and annoying to some, but most find him polite, friendly, and sometimes (rarely) even funny. Staying positive has its tolls, however. Jackson often finds negativity becoming bottled up inside of him, making him drift off into thought at key words, or suddenly seem sad for fleeting moments. If the negativity boils over... let's just say things aren't pretty. Fortunately this only happens when he's frustrated or discouraged. Unfortunately he can become both rather quickly. Because he doesn't want to ruin someone else's day, he usually tries to keep things simple and positive in conversations with strangers as to not put stress on his emotions. This can make him come off as shy. Nevertheless, if you're his friend he'll do his best to keep you up in spirits and will never abandon you. Probably.
PREFERENCES: Jackson likes almost all kinds of food, except fruits. Berries are fine, but full-on big fruits are practically the bane of his tastebuds. Sweet stuff just doesn't do it for him. Except chocolate. His dream meal is a big plate of seasoned veggies and meats. When it comes to weather, Jackson favors cloudy days after a short rainfall. The rainy smell (aka petrichor) makes him feel revived, and the overall coolness of the weather makes it less exhausting to run around in Turf Wars. In people, he prefers those who he can lean on emotionally and those who could lean right back if they ever needed to. He'd rather think before speaking as well, but if he gets on a roll in a conversation he might not get that moment of thought. What comes out at at that point can sound... strange. If he slips, it's very easy to tell; his face can be read like a book when he's embarrassed. His overall politeness cushions him if he meets someone who rubs him the wrong way, and he tries very very hard to subtly let them know he doesn't enjoy their company. He's fine talking to most people, even those he doesn't like too much, though he still stutters ever so often in more awkward situations. Romantically, he usually doesn't feel, or realize he feels attraction until he's spent a decent while (and by a decent while I mean several months) with a person, and even then he's pretty subtle about that too.
LIFE & FAMILY: Jackson lives with his Mom, Lydia and his Dad, Richard. His Father tends to travel a lot so Jackson doesn't see him much and knows not too much about him. He also plays the viola, and his mother is a professional violinist. Because he hears her play so often, he's somewhat humble with his own musical talent, even though he's fairly above-average. His home isn't really close to any notable landmarks or areas of Inkopolis, but it IS close to many local shops that he visits regularly. When he's not hanging with friends, doing schoolwork, or playing Turf War he can usually be found lounging at a local café while enjoying some food and a good book. He's always pretty busy in between school and viola lessons, but he always seems to find time for recreation since he's so diligent with his work. He has made a bad habit of putting off chores until the last minute in many cases, and so far he's been lucky enough to not get in trouble for it.
BATTLE: Jackson's primary weapon of choice is the New Squiffer. He leans more towards lighter weapons, including Mini Splatling, Carbon Roller and Tri-Slosher Nouveau. He's also surprisingly stable with the Inkzooka and can use heavier weapons easily enough if he has to (though his performance won't be as good). In battle his first move is usually to get to the middle area of a map and cover his teammates so that they can ink turf in peace. When it works, it's hard for the opposition to make a comeback. When it backfires, however, Jackson will often spend some time charging up his special and then trying again to reclaim the turf. He enjoys the other modes too, and Splat Zones is his personal favorite of all. He wears his Black Arrowbands on his glasses even outside of battle, and it gets on his nerves when people point that out. Normally he wears a pair of Strapping Whites for shoes in and out, but he'll put on a pair of Blue Moto Boots for battle when he uses his Squiffer (he thinks they're good luck). One thing few know about him though; he's freaked out by using Inkstrikes from what happened when he first tried one. It carried him up several feet in the blink of an eye before he escaped by changing to squid form as a reflex. Scary stuff. He's since learned how to use Inkstrikes properly, but naturally shies away from them now.
OTHER STUFF: If he gets spooked by a jumpscare or the like he'll freeze up for a considerable amount of time. He doesn't find this particularly funny, but can laugh it off if it's friendly. He has only gone swimming in water once, when he was young. He remembers it fondly, but has never set foot in a pool (on purpose) since. He's kinda afraid of water now.
Note: His normal out-of-battle clothes are his glasses (he always wears the band), a Camo Zip Hoodie, and a pair of Strapping Whites.
FRIENDS:
-Hanako van Gogh: A shy girl inkling of whom Jackson met atop a building in Booyah Base. Jackson was the first person she'd opened up to, and is now his good friend of his and practices Turf War with him. Hanako is a more-than-amazing singer, and Jackson sometimes stays behind at the Base late at night just to hear her songs. App, Plot, Hanako
ENEMIES: er...
RELATIONSHIPS/LOVERS: UHHHHH........
