[attr="class","landfill-link"] fall down to your knees and prove to me you're not the same [attr="class","landfill-scroll"]Electing to ignore the fact that she was still going on about his carelessness, a bit of suspicion crept into his expression when she turned and began to approach, that insincere smile upon her lips again. Abruptly the smirk fell from his lips when she reached forward and pinched his cheeks. His features contorted in a mixture of offense and annoyance and he made a noise of protest, batting her hand away.
"Do you mind?" he retorted hotly. "I'd prefer it if you kept your hands to yourself - hearing you go on is bad enough." Grimacing, he eyed her as she prepared to step outside, her words enough to will an irritated scoff from him. "Good," he replied, his voice teeming with bitterness. "Take your time, sweetheart. I insist." Giving a frustrated exhalation, he turned his face away and grumbled, "And don't tempt me."
He was beginning to feel less like he was being nursed back to health and more like he'd just been trapped in what would serve as his own personal hell for the next few days. Perhaps if he was lucky he'd be able to remain unconscious throughout the worst of it. She was positively infuriating. | commentary |

[attr="class","landfill-link"] Now there's no holding back I'm making to attack [attr="class","landfill-scroll"]Ugh. So childish. She neglected on giving him any more attention however, exiting the house and heading to the store. Maybe if she bought enough food to stuff into his mouth, he wouldn't be able to talk around it. But even that was probably going to be more of an irritating task than it would be with anyone else. She swore she'd seen Inklings with better manners.
The rest of the day went by fairly quickly to her surprise, in spite of their arguments and her temper flaring up, time seemed to zoom by when she was taking care of Crow. It didn't feel long before he had fallen asleep again (or passed out due to a reopened wound, one of the two) and she was left to clean up the mess left behind.
Artemis found herself unable to get to resting so easily, however. She tossed and turned on the floor, and sometimes when she finally fell asleep, she'd wake up five minutes later with a panicky feeling that Crow had just done something stupid again and was about to get himself killed, only to find him snoozing away. She berated herself for even worrying over the Soldier, he was a man and could take care of himself - and not to mention not one of her favorite people. ...But nobody deserved to suffer.
When she awoke, it was not with pleasure, and she felt an awful headache coming on. Rubbing at her forehead, Artemis took in a breath. She began to get up, and then paled when she saw the time. With a frustrated noise, Artemis hurried to her feet, practically beginning to zip around the room doing her morning chores. The dishes needed cleaning, Crow's bandages needed changing, the shelves needed dusting - in the moment she found herself getting upset with Crow, as if he was in any condition to function as an alarm for her.
Growling, she hopped into the shower with a vigor that came purely from rage that day. She scrubbed herself down in ten minutes flat just like she always did, and wrapped her green towel around herself. She nearly busted the bathroom door down, stomping over to her bedroom area. "Get up, get up." She shook the bed instead of Crow as to not offend his injuries.
With that she went over to the dressing. "You've gotten me late - there is no way I'll be able to do my morning patrol now thanks to you - why are you so -" She didn't want to say useless, but, useless. It wasn't his fault, she kept trying to tell herself that, but having such an...interesting guest around the house was starting to mess up her daily routine. Which irritated her. Greatly.
Picking away at her drawers, she perked up at the sound of the tea kettle going off. "Hold these," Artemis quipped, flinging a bra towards him, unknowingly hitting Crow square in the face. Underwear, shirt, and pants followed. "And if you need anything you better say it now or forever hold your damn peace." | commentary |

[attr="class","landfill-link"] fall down to your knees and prove to me you're not the same [attr="class","landfill-scroll"]While ordinarily Crow was a rather light sleeper, it seemed being nearly fatally wounded had proven more than enough to effectively help him sleep at night. His rest was far from peaceful, however, and he shifted frequently, mumbling things from time to time in his sleep. It wasn't until Artemis shook the mattress that he roused, however, while not entirely; disgruntled, he grimaced and squinted his eyes open, exhaustion still clinging to his limbs and grogginess willing his eyelids to droop heavily. What the..?
Her voice confused him at first. It took him a few moments to remember where he was, not to mention whose home he was in. His realization was closely followed with annoyance. Already she was assaulting him with accusations when he'd scarcely been awake for five minutes. Rubbing the side of his face, he fought a groan and parted his lips so as to complain when, with little more than a brief warning, her bra came sailing at him and smacked into his face.
Immediately aggravated, he curled his lip and grabbed it, pulling it away from his face and starting indignantly, "For the love of God, could you, for five seconds, not--" Crow's voice died in his throat, however, when he glanced at the article of clothing in his hands and realized precisely what it was. Immediately, his expression drained of any annoyance, replaced with blatant shock, and he stared in disbelief, then lifted his gaze as Artemis finished chucking clothes his way.
When he glimpsed her, he became very suddenly aware of the fact that she was dressed in nothing more than a towel. Tensing, he quickly turned his face away and released the bra as though it were a cursed object, his lips pressing to a thin line, eyes wide, and face suddenly flushing with heat. He forced his gaze elsewhere -anywhere but at the clothes in his lap, god forbid at Artemis.
For a few moments he struggled in silence for a sarcastic retort of some kind, but nothing came to mind. He cursed himself for acting so flustered, but it didn't appear to change the fact, much to his displeasure. Then, he cursed Artemis for instigating his discomfort in the first place. If she hadn't decided to strut around in some goddamn towel - and throw underwear at his face - he wouldn't be feeling so... embarrassed. | commentary |

[attr="class","landfill-link"] Now there's no holding back I'm making to attack [attr="class","landfill-scroll"]It was only after Artemis turned off the stove that she addressed Crow's broken off complaint, unsure of why it had fell short in the first place. He better not have opened up a wound again. She sighed. "I'm taking that as a no." She told him, turning around and heading back over to the bed. Artemis opened her mouth to tell him something along the lines of do you mind but it seemed he was already turning his head away. What a gentleman, she thought sarcastically, but was glad she didn't have to struggle her way back into the bathroom just to get dressed.
Artemis let the towel drop to the floor and started to pick up the clothes from Crow's lap. She got into them, having some difficult getting into the jeans at first, as they along with the shirt clung to her damp form. Artemis exhaled when the small task was done. "Okay." She announced, though mostly to herself and she ran a hand through her tentacle hair, thinking to herself on what she needed to do next.
Ah. Food. She couldn't let Crow rot away in that bed. Cursing under her breath, she went back to the kitchen, pouring out two cups of tea just as she had done the day before. She got a few pieces of bread and popped them in the toaster. "I'm gonna make you a few sandwiches to tide you over while I'm at work, but what do you want for breakfast?" | commentary |

[attr="class","landfill-link"] fall down to your knees and prove to me you're not the same [attr="class","landfill-scroll"]It was difficult, to say the least, not to focus on the situation at hand - not that there was much of any situation to begin with. Perhaps he'd blown things out of proportion, but there was something incredibly uncomfortable about it all. The more he thought about it, the more flustered he felt. Ignoring it wasn't really an option, seeing as he couldn't move and she'd tossed her clothes at him.
Everything would be fine so long as he kept his attention elsewhere. He swallowed nervously when she spoke from the other side of the room, and grew progressively more tense as she approached, her footfalls sounding far more menacing than they should have been. Remaining precisely where he was, he tried to ignore the fact that she was standing right next to him, and at the telltale sound of her towel hitting the floor, his embarrassment doubled, cheeks adopting a faint blue hue.
If he could have kicked himself without drawing her attention, he surely would.
When finally she announced that she'd finished dressing herself, albeit with nothing but a casual 'okay', he felt himself breathe a sigh of relief, relaxing visibly, and tried to dispel whatever remained of his unease. After a few moments, he finally said, the words unnecessarily spiteful, "Are you that opposed to getting dressed in the bathroom?" Grumpily, he lifted himself into a sitting position, grimacing when his wound cried out in protest, and crossed his arms.
At her inquiry, he scoffed. Naturally, accepting meals from her was out of the question - even if he was incredibly hungry. "This is humiliating enough as is -- I don't need you feeding me, too. I'll live," he retorted sharply, pressing his lips to a thin line. In spite of the fact that there wasn't much to look at within her home, he found his gaze fixed off to the side on nothing in particular as if it were the most interesting thing on the face of the planet. Better that than looking at her again. | commentary |

[attr="class","landfill-link"] Now there's no holding back I'm making to attack [attr="class","landfill-scroll"]The question took Artemis off guard a little. She raised a brow in confusion when she glanced. "What? You were turned around. I assumed it was for that reason." Her expression turned to annoyance again at seeing him sit up. "You're impossible." Was all she said to scold him, too preoccupied to try and convince him to lay back down. Their conversation was cut short by the sound of the phone on the wall breaking out in loud rings. Artemis perked up, bringing Crow his cup of tea before heading to answer.
"This is Artemis. Who is calling?" The woman inquired, and for a few minutes after just listened carefully. "I see. Alright. And tonight? Late. Okay. Got it. Thank you Sir." Hanging the phone up, she paused, then glanced to Crow. A smirk appeared on her face. "I don't have to patrol until nine PM. You know what that means?" Her expression was almost sadistic, Crow's refusal of being fed spurring her on. "You're gonna eat, whether you like it or not. So drink up."
She started up the stove again, beginning to rummage through her cabinets. This way, she wouldn't have to make sandwiches, she'd just have a lot of breakfast leftovers. Well, that is, if she couldn't get Crow to shove it all down his throat. "I'm not gonna listen to the sound of your stomach growling all day." | commentary |

[attr="class","landfill-link"] fall down to your knees and prove to me you're not the same [attr="class","landfill-scroll"]Much like a child who hadn't gotten his way, Crow little more than rolled his eyes at her response and mimicked bitterly, "You're impossible." Falling silent after that, he merely glanced at the other side of the room when the phone began to ring before returning his attention to the general area of space he'd been focusing on before. Though outwardly he appeared detached, he couldn't help but listen.
It wasn't until Artemis hung up the phone and addressed him that he looked back at her, albeit with an annoyed expression. He arched an eyebrow at her question, frown deepening, and resisted the urge to reply with 'That you're going to bother me incessantly for the rest of the day?'. When she continued, however, Crow realized he'd been right, but it was worse than what he'd anticipated.
Immediately his features warped with a look of protest. Indignant, he replied, watching in disbelief while she went about preparing a meal, "So, what? You'll undo my stitches and let me bleed out if I refuse? Nag me to death?" He scoffed. "Don't make me laugh. You can't 'make' me do anything." | commentary |

[attr="class","landfill-link"] Now there's no holding back I'm making to attack [attr="class","landfill-scroll"]Artemis was now used to Crow being exceedingly difficult, so the impolite words thrown her way didn't phase her as she went about preparing the meal - some soup. "Well, I know I've broken a man's jaw with my fists before, so surely keeping yours open long enough to put a spoon in there won't be that hard." Artemis told him, tone nearly cheerful, but perhaps too patronizing to be genuine.
"Letting you bleed out with defeat the purpose of trying to feed you. I'm trying to fill your stomach, not empty it." Yes, definitely so. She was doing that again, where she spoke slowly to him as if trying to teach a infant how to speak his first words. Artemis knew it certainly got under his skin with that worthless pride of his, and she had to admit, it was starting to become amusing to see him get riled up.
The woman spared a glance back at the nightstand. "So aren't you going to drink your tea? If I force that down your throat, it might spill on you. And then you'll smell like tea until you can stand up long enough to make it to the bathroom. Though I suppose it's not the worst smell to have on your T-shirt." | commentary |

[attr="class","landfill-link"] fall down to your knees and prove to me you're not the same [attr="class","landfill-scroll"]Curling his lip with visible distaste, he cast the back of Artemis' head a dry look at the sound of her threats. It was amazing the lengths she was willing to go to in order to take care of him, but the way she did it made it seem less like she wanted to nurse him back to health and more like she wanted to kill him. Of course, she said herself how counterproductive it would be to do so. Crow almost felt sorry that she wasn't willing to put him out of his misery.
Dropping his head back against the wall, he drew his gaze languidly elsewhere. "I don't like tea, if it makes any difference to you," he replied flatly, "And you're right. Injuring me would defeat the purpose of trying to help me get better, so no, I'm not overly concerned." Side eyeing her, he nearly smirked, the words he spoke next laced with sarcasm, "You've made the fact that you care about me painfully clear by now; actions speak louder than words, as it were. There's no need to pretend as though you actually have any intentions of doing anything drastic. I'm flattered - honestly. " | commentary |

[attr="class","landfill-link"] Now there's no holding back I'm making to attack [attr="class","landfill-scroll"]"You don't know if you like that tea. You haven't even tried it. This is why I called you a manchild yesterday." She responded, exasperated at his insistent nature. He was very persistent, she'd give him that. Artemis became tired of arguing with him, at least about this particular subject. The jury was still out on generally. "You should be." She said simply, going about the next minutes in silence to finish the soup.
When it was all done and poured into a bowl, Artemis took in a deep breath, closing her eyes. She turned to face Crow with a determined arch in her brows, though her face softened considerably when she was by the bed. "Crow," She crooned, her voice genuinely sweet for once. "I don't really like fighting that much. I know you don't like being cooped up in here, and I know you don't need to eat." She leaned herself on the edge of the bed, almost laying over him, but not pressing her weight down so she could still hold the bowl without placing it on him.
"But it'll help you get back on your feet faster, and that's what you want, right? To be out of here as soon as possible? Please. Just humor me for once." She finished her sentence with a tired smile. "I'll owe you one, okay?" | commentary |

[attr="class","landfill-link"] fate's decided for everyone all my life i have been asking why [attr="class","landfill-scroll"]It was all he could do not to groan at the sound of her reply. For all the jabs she'd made at him about feeling like his mother, she really did act as though that was the case. Rather than managing a reply, he merely gave an incomprehensible grumble and crossed his arms over his chest, rolling his eyes and then closing them again. Maybe if he pretended to be unconscious she'd leave him alone.
As she went about preparing food, however, Crow nearly did fall back to sleep. It wasn't until he heard her say his name that he blinked his eyes open, startled at first by the closeness of her voice and the fact that it sounded, for once, sincere. His immediate response was suspicion, and then defensiveness.
Visibly taken aback, he stared in disbelief back at her, as if trying to detect a trace of sarcasm or annoyance. When none presented itself, he felt all the more uncomfortable, and the feeling only increased when she leaned over him, still going on in that same tone of voice. He tensed, leaning instinctively away, and swallowed nervously, unsure of how to feel about her behavior at first.
It took him a moment or so, but he quickly decided he preferred it when she was abrasive and sarcastic. It wasn't nearly as uncomfortable. At a loss, and feeling inexplicably flustered, he stammered, "I -- I, uh..." After a brief, incredibly anxious pause, he managed to regather his composure and turned his face away, feeling a rush of annoyance out of nowhere.
"Alright, fine - as long as you never talk to me like that again," he snapped with unnecessary harshness, then added for good measure, "And give me some space. I don't need you breathing down my neck, for God's sake." | commentary |
