| You can count on me to misbehave; | CHROM's COMMENTS ― dumb nerd loses the easiest game in the whole arcade smh (1-3 people perheps?? ;v;) ❤ 4 ↩️ 2
| Left in a corner of the arcade of Booyah Base's arcade was none other than a coin machine, used to change the "cash" typically used into coins that actually could supply the many game machines that sat around the building and redeem them as playable. Troubles only arouse when it was out of coins, or worse, broken.
Being a frequent arcade visitor, Blake stopped at this machine to spend his extra Turf War cash in to play the various games it had to offer with coins. But today, the machine refused to give out any change, despite having the light that noted it being out of coins off.
"Oh."
He sighed in disappointment, trying to jossle the many knobs and bits in an attempt to gain back his money or get the beloved coins that he wanted in the first place. Nothing was coming out of this but him looking like an idiot; yelling at a machine that wouldn't respond, and he bitterly refused to give up, which didn't help on that in the slightest. |

Barlo worked at the arcade. Not really as an employee, but rather, he was simply good enough at enough of the arcade game that the owner there wanted to make sure he kept playing in there, as the spectacle of a high-level player on stage 70 or 80 of squid jump drew in lots of playing customers. So as long as the inkling came in on the weekends and pushed for high scores on his favorite games, he'd get a weekly paycheck and a small bonus for whenever he broke the current record on a machine. Stepping away from a ' Squid Beatz' machine, Barlo's focus came back into the world around him, yet, a new noise had joined the droning noise of various arcade cabinets blasting their enthusiastic tune. A childish, one-sided arguement stepped on the toes of the harmonious mixture of video games music. With little rush, Bartholomew turned to see what all the commotion was about. Once seeing the problem, he couldn't help but give a small chuckle, as he knew that machine had a bit of history with being a cheap-skate. In his normal, sluggish pace, Barlo brushed off his skirt and approached Blake. " You know, it's about every month or so that that thing acts up, I would call my boss over here but that'd take a bit to fix. That and last time I checked, she don't give refunds." Barlo motioned for Blake to move aside, reaching for the machine's return coin slot and gave a rough couple of pats to the edge of the machine, and after a few moments, exact change in arcade tokens came rolling out. "It's not gonna fix it, but I'll tell her it's acting up later."

| You can count on me to misbehave; | CHROM's COMMENTS ― sorry for responding so late omg,, also pls do excuse my horrible, horrible child ❤ 4 ↩️ 2 | About time did somebody come over to assist him at the machine. The damn thing felt like it was stuck for hours, and Blake was honestly about to rip out the machine if it messed with him anymore. Grabbing the coins that finally flew out, he looked slightly upwards to thank the stranger.
"Well, I think it'll be fine for now! All I needed were some coins," he responded, "Good thing that somebody nice and rough like you came over here to give the machine what it deserves."
He noticed that while he could run along to whatever he was going to do, it surely wouldn't hurt to talk up the kind Inkling who helped him with his money misadventure. Blake leaned on the counter besides them casually, placing himself in a 'chill' position.
"Seems like you know a lot about these machines. You work here, or something?" |

He wasn't sure about using the word rough, and it made him pause for a moment. Barlo considered correcting him on that, but the more he thought about it, the inkling gave up on the idea, as it took too much effort and awkwardness to be worth it to him. "Yeah, I somtimes wonder if I coulg fix it for good.. but it adds a quirk to this arcade, so I think really.. I'd rather keep it." He gave the coin machine one last look before the two walked away from it. [break][break] Barlo took a second to look at Blake's interesting pose, leaning back against the counter seemed a little uncomfortable, was he trying to seem cool? It didn't matter that much. Barlo opted to just plop his hands in his jacket pockets, staring at the ceiling as Blake spoke to him. After a few seconds of mindless thought, Barlo kept his eyes on the ceiling to respond, not bothered enough to maintain eyecontact. "Work? Well.. I think it's considered work.. I'm paid to break high scores.. or maintain high level play.. at the arcade cabinets. Boss says it draws in customers." [break][break]
OOC COMMENTS: No no it's ok! I'm sorry for taking so long myself. Also, please don't mind mr. staring at the ceiling, he's not doing that to be rude I swear. | You can count on me to misbehave; | CHROM's COMMENTS ― LMAO sorry for taking so long as well ;; ❤ 4 ↩️ 2 | As Barlo began looking up at the ceiling, Blake shifted back into a more natural position, with his hand on his hip. So much for that.
"I guess you're right...." he said, eventually trailing off.
To seem less distant, he slid down his headphones again, letting them rest onto his shoulders. And, too, he gazed at the ceiling, mimicking the position of the other. "That's a job? No offence. Just seems kind of a weird thing to get payed for," he mentioned, "but I guess people get money from weirder things out there."
What was he talking about? Man, he'd loved to get payed to play games all day. Though, Turf War money was good enough at the moment. He dropped that train of thought.
And what was it with people looking up at the ceiling all the time? Didn't seem very entertaining or rewarding to him. Blake also decided to stop staring up.
"...Is anything up there? Like, what, government secrets? Because it looks just like a ceiling to me."
