CHARACTER DESCRIPTION
Jaime “Gadget” Reine was born with the short end of the stick. The result of a one-night-stand between an inkling and a sea urchin and raised by a single mom with three older Inkling brothers, she’s always felt a little bit… “different.” She’s always tried a bit too hard to make up for her shortcomings by pretending to be more than she really is. She likes flashy colors. She likes flashy music. She likes pretending she owns the place and knows no strangers. She likes trying (and failing) at Turf War.[break][break]
It isn’t like she’s the worst at Turf War… more like the second worst. But this isn’t a fact that she wants to admit, and she’d much rather fight the odds and try to succeed than not do anything at all. She doesn’t have many friends because of how weird and creepy she tends to look, a fact that sometimes bothers her, but she won’t admit that either. No matter that it takes her a few more seconds to turn into her Inkling form than usual, or that she tends to get her spikes caught in things, or that she moves quite a bit slower through ink than everyone else. Maybe some day, she’ll find out how to win big. For once in her life, she wants to stand with other Inklings and feel like she belongs there.
Appearance
Perhaps the most obvious thing about her is that about half of her otherwise Inkling-esque face is overtaken by urchin spikes. Some of them haven’t grown in quite right, and some of them cut across her face in patches of awkward, unattractive growths. One of her eyes turned out quite a bit different than the other, and tends to be held a bit wider than the other. Both as a squid and an Inkling, she only has one primary tentacle, which makes her quite a bit slower swimming through ink. As for the rest of her, she likes baggy clothes to hide the little spikes that are scattered around her body. The regulation inkling sports pants don’t do her spiky legs any favors, though. She’s about 4’5’’ and her natural ink color is magenta. Her spikes have a natural green tinge to the ends.gadget / art is mine
