Cathy poked her head out of the rusty kettle. She looked down into the pipe of magenta ink (as some octarians had different colours out of training, there was a device by the kettle that would allow the changing of the pipe's ink colour), but she could see nothing but the endless river of ink. Good, nobody followed me. She clambered out of the kettle and dusted herself off. She was in Flooder Junkyard, a place where the Flooders resided. Cathy had never see anybody except herself go there, but she still had to be careful. After all, she didn't want anyone to find out that she-
"Cathy!!!"
Cathy smiled playfully. Her friend, Stormatte, had come into her view. Stormatte was a cornflower blue Flooder, who was the same age as Cathy and the hastiest Flooder in Octo Valley.
"Hey, Stormatte! Did you find anything while I was gone?"
"Just this."
Stormatte jerked his head forward, and a Splattershot ink container fell off.
"Ooh! I wonder what it is!"
"I think the Inkling's use it in turf wars..."
"Oh yeah! I've seen one connected to a Splattershot!"
Cathy giggled uncontrollably as Stormatte hastily tried to wipe it down. If there was one place she loved more than Inkopolis, it was Flooder Junkyard.

Peeking from a corner, Oca stood there, watching the other Octarians having fun.
I... I need to find my metallic arm piece... she murmured.
She quietly watches and waited the flooder to leave with the Octoling. She'll get splatted if the flooders are in a different color!
She peeked again, this time they're both gone. The blue trail of the blue flooder and the broken Splattershot ink container were the only things to prove they've been here.
She sneaked over, trying to avoid the ink in the process.
Ugh... where is it? she tried to search within the pile of random junk. I need to find it before they return-
CLANG
Oca accidentally knocked a heavy metal gear over the top of the junk pile. It dropped onto the floor, ringing a loud clang throughout the dome.
...carp.

Clang!
"What was that?!" Cathy's voice quivered as she said it. If anyone found out I like to come here... Cathy shivered at the thought.
"Meh," Stormatte replied, "I wouldn't worry. Stuff is always falling down around here. I thought you would know that..."
"Aheh," Cathy smiled weakly, "I'll just go over there...to check."
"Suit yourself," Stormatte rolled off towards a large pile of junk.
Cathy cautiously walked over to the spot where the loud clang had came from, and scanned the area. Phew, no octarians. Huh?! Cathy spotted something shiny. She dug it out of the junk pile and examined it. It seems to be some sort of metal arm...strange...

She... she got my arm piece...!
Oca peeked again, watching helplessly as the Octoling examined the piece as if it's an ancient artefact.
She seems... dangerous, with that flooder friend. I can't really fight them without a weapon... or both hands if you will.
Waiting patiently, she slowly placed her right hand on a piece of junk on a pile of other junk. She decided to lean on it, but big mistake, the entire pile collapsed.
What in Octavio's name, Oca! What are you doing--! They'll find out where I am now!

"Huah!"
Cathy jumped back as the heap of junk collapsed at her feet.
"W-who's there?!"
She drew herself up and tried to stop her knees from knocking. She took a step towards the pile. And another.
"I demand that you...uh...s-show yourself! You're n-not supposed to be here!"
You're one to talk...Cathy took a reluctant step closer to the collapsed heap and hoped that her imagination was playing tricks on her, and that anything but an octarian had knocked the junk over.

There's nowhere to run now... fine.
She slowly stepped out of the pile.
"I-It's me who knocked over that. I'm so sorry that I scared you..."
She looked at her arm piece which the Octoling still gripped on it tightly. She then looked at her left arm which is covered in neon green scars.
This Octoling doesn't want me to be here. She sighed.
"I-I will leave now if y-you want... b-but can I-I take back th-that arm piece? I need it and it's mine..."
That one gift from that old Cuttlefish... I need it back.

Cathy's heart sank as the octoling crawled out from behind the pile. She doesn't look like a soldier, and she certainly doesn't sound like one, she noticed as the girl mumbled something. After a small debate in her mind, Cathy finally decided that the girl wasn't a spy and that she just wanted her arm piece back.
"I'm sorry for startling you, I was just afraid that you were a soldier. I mean, like one of those tell-tale elite soldiers," she tried to explain, failing horribly, "And sorry I took your arm piece..."
Cathy meekly gave the octoling her arm piece back.
"It's very interesting, by the way..." she mumbled nervously, "Where did you get it?"

Oca took a deep breath. Where did I get this, eh...She slowly slipped the arm piece on. She moved the fingers to make sure it still works. "I got it from a... very special person." she tried to leak as little of her identity as she can. "Someone I will never forget within my entire life. He's special because... first, he did saved me from the edge of death... kinda... and second he's..."An Inkling. She stopped herself from continuing her line. "You won't want to know who he is. I'm sure you'll hate him because most Octarians do."She took a quick glance at the Octoling girl. In casual clothes? Probably not a soldier... soldiers wear their armour 24-7. "...Oh! Oh, b-by the way, forgot to introduce myself. I'm Oca."

"Nice to meet you, Oca."
Cathy hesitated at asking her question.
"You said that most octarians don't like who gave you that metal-arm-thingy. Does that mean...what I think it means?...Was it an inkling?"
The words were out of Cathy's mouth before she could stop them.
"N-not that I hate them! O-or like them! O-or..."
Cathy's voice trailed away, not knowing how else she could cover up her question.

Holy carp, she guessed it! Can she read minds or something? Oca struggled to answer the Octoling's guess, but she answered her with a quiet "Yes" only enough for her to hear it. "Not any normal Inkling but... let's say... I'm an agent. My job is to spy on Octarians and make sure they won't start any plans that'll threaten the surface. If they are plotting something I'll report to... him, so he can ask other agents to ruin their plan and keep peace. The Great Zapfish incident earlier... that's my job to stop King Octavio from invading the surface."Oca looked away shyly...and scared. "P-please don't tell others about it... they're gonna splat me till my spawner run out of power and I'll be gone forever..." "Y-you don't seem to hate Inklings as much as others do... I guess it's safe to tell you. If you do want to report me that's fine, though. I know what to do when my identity is exposed. I won't take any revenge whatsoever, ...um..." "You haven't introduce yourself yet. What's your name?"(Cathy )

"My name's Cathy. Catherine if you want to be picky," Cathy grinned, "And don't worry, I won't tell anyone. To be honest, my relationship with the inklings is not exactly...mortal enemies."
"Speaking of introductions...Hey Stormatte! Could you come over here for a sec?"

"Stormatte?" Oca asked.
A blue flooder approached the Octolings. "Oh, so this is Stormatte. Hi there! I'm Oca." she greeted.
"And what do you mean you're not mortal enemies with Inklings?"

"Well...uh.." Cathy turned her head away, as if someone had written the truth on her forehead, "I don't really...believe that, you know, the inklings 'stole' our victory and that the surface is 'rightly ours'. I mean, they won the Great Turf War fair and square, right?"
"Besides, the military treat a lot of other octarians unfairly, like the flooders. I'm pretty sure that's not how inklings treat different species!" Cathy scowled briefly as she thought about it, "And besides, I don't want to fight them, because I-"
Cathy stopped herself before she could say anything else.
"I...uh..."

"I know this is way too much to tell to a person I met for just ten minutes... but I might as well talk 'bout it.
"I used to believe in that Octarians should win the war, and Inklings deserved to be banished into the domes instead of us. I used to fight hard with others, thinking that we can claim our victory back...
"But when I was kidnapped by those... Octo-traitors... along with my brother and a few others when young, we learnt the truth.
"Remember how out victory was taken away by an electric socket being carelessly pulled out? It's no accident. An Octarian did it... with purposes.
"He's the former king, he who's expelled via a trap by some royals, who dislike the idea on not starting a war. He's replaced by DJ Octavio, his brother, who feared those royals and started the war anyway."
"He did it, because he felt that we don't deserve to win. Everyone who lived on the surface were the ones to blame, Octarians included. We all are the blame for the pollution which caused the rising sea levels, the one thing that destroyed the mighty Humans. Whoever takes the victory, it doesn't matter, but it's the Octarians who stated the war and it's so wrong he can't take it. He let the Inklings win that.
"He kidnapped the best youths of the future to help him... make the rest understand. But since he's too old to direct the secret program himself, he asked a few others to help. The results are... not very pleasant.
"See, most youths are too young to understand the great meanings. His minions tried to convince them that we shouldn't carry the hatred towards Inklings, but they won't understand. So they... beat them up.
"I'm very stubborn as well, so did my brother... many died because of this secret program. My brother and I escaped and warned King Octavio via my good friend Ofalk. The former King and his minions are captured and executed... I was feeling so proud of myself at first.
"But later, when I got to the surface of Octo Valley, trying to find a spot to heal my brother... he... he.... uh, you get the point...
"Anyway... I regretted my actions. I understood what he said when the Captain of the Legendary Squidbeak Splatoon found me and.... took care of me..."
Oca stopped dead in her tracks. Her face is covered in tears.
"I'm sorry..."

"Please don't cry," Stormatte tried to comfort Oca, but since he had no arms to pat her with he only succeeded in rubbing his leg against her like a playful puppy.
"It's crazy," Cathy mumbled, more to herself than Oca or Stormatte, "How alike we are. We both feel the same love of inklings, but similar problems have kept us down here. I guess I should probably tell you my story now."
Cathy gulped nervously, but began to speak.
"I've always felt this kind of warmth towards inklings, ever since I was little. They fascinated me in a way, you know. But because my cousin was showing elite than elite skills in battling, I was expected to, you know, be like her. But I'm not. I'm not at all talented with an Octoshot, and my 'goofiness' tends to hold back the other soldiers. Nonetheless, I'm still kept in the military. Maybe they think I'll suddenly turn into my cousin overnight, or something. She died, you know. Killed by a few of those agents."
"But don't get the impression I liked her, now. She was ever so serious and sneery. I hated her more than any of the others, even more than my troupe's leader, and that's saying something. So naturally when she ordered me to do something, I more than often didn't do it. But anyway, I'm getting sidetracked. One night a few months ago, I decided I would go to Inkopolis, even if I only got a glimpse. It had been bugging me for ages, and I couldn't ignore the feeling. So once Cuttlefish was distracted I slipped past and went to Inkopolis."
"I got to see it in all it's glory. Everything was neon and 'fireworks' were bursting everywhere. From what I can remember, two trucks were in the centre of what they call 'Inkopolis Plaza'. They were facing away from me, so I didn't see who was on them, but I think I can recall singing. Anyway, someone noticed me and threatened me with a shooter. I managed to convince them that I wasn't a spy and they took me to their friends. Turns out they were agents, the very same agents who had killed my cousin. And one thing led to another, and now I can visit Inkopolis, as long as one of them are around."
Cathy gasped for breath after her very long tale, but quickly recovered.
"So, now that we know each other's secrets, may you tell me who gave you that arm thingy?"
