His father works in the publication industry, and unbeknownst to him or anyone else, he's been to Octo Valley. He taught Seymour to be careful of swallowing whatever he reads or watches, and that propaganda against Octolings is everywhere. His mother is a housewife, but that doesn't stop her from going on side-jobs or getting her husband or children to help with the housework. They are a very progressive couple, and have absolutely nothing at all against making peace with the Octolings.
His father was raised by an Octoling family. One way or another, he was found and adopted by a pair of Octoling parents, and raised among Octoling friends in a small progressive part of the Valley. He lived a happy childhood up until he was ten, when his parents took him to Inkopolis. A pair of Inkling policemen assumed that he was being kidnapped, and the Octolings were the captors, his parents were arrested and he was taken into custody at an orphanage. Since then, he has been living in shock at the immense abount of prejudice that persisted against Octolings among Inklings, and has vowed to put an end to the divide when he grows up.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTION
Seymour Nautilus, known as Mora among his family and friends, is a smart Inkling with a burning interest in Octoling culture, which is quite inconvenient as it's hard to come by books or Web articles written on that topic.
He has neatly parted bangs and a fair skin tone, and wears thick hexagonal midnight-gray glasses with neon green accents. He is quite short, and definitely not considered muscular, but his agility often makes up for his lack of muscle power.
He usually prefers his ink color to be purple, and usually wears gray or black.
His hobbies include studying Octoling culture and learning the Octoling language and he wants to visit Octo Valley someday, and his parents have no problem with it since they are more progressive than most Inklings. Other things he likes include R&B music and sniping when in Turf Battles. He has an alternate keyboard layout that he uses on his computer and phone that allows him to type really fast.

MISCELLANEOUS
- Seymour doesn't have much of a preference on what to eat, but if you were to ask him one thing he'd like to eat for dinner, that would be curry and rice.
- However, he doesn't like food that's too sweet, like apple pie, candy, or soda.
- Seymour's voice isn't very loud or high-pitched, but rather quite a “round” one. He isn't very good at shouting.
- Seymour uses a special keyboard layout that lets him type at about twice the speed of most Inklings his age.
- Seymour can speak the Octoling language, not quite fluently but better than intermediately. When he speaks Octoling, his lines will be wrapped between « guillemets ».
