Inkopolis, as its name suggests, is a city largely inhabited by Inklings. Constantly bustling with activity, Inkopolis is home to a variety of shops, apartments, subways and schools. Of course, Inklings aren't the only ones who live here - a wide spectrum of creatures find their home in Inkopolis as well, mingling peacefully with their fellow civilians. The city's plaza is by far the busiest; equipped with an abundance of shops and the hub of Turf War arrangements, it's buzzing with activity from the moment the sun rises.
Despite the art-based nature of much of Inkopolis' culture, the city isn't free of conflict or corruption. From a young age, Inklings are taught to fear and hate their fabled rivals - the Octolings. The media perpetrates a striking amount of propaganda, and for this reason, few Inklings know the true nature of the Great Turf War that transpired just 100 years ago. Even to this day, the conflict rages on - and with little to no attempt at compromise, Inklings and Octolings continue to strife for the land and control they believe is theirs.
Before becoming an agent, Inklings must undergo extensive training. Initially, they're tested in Turf War, made to compete against fellow students in a series of tournaments. Those who trump their competitors become junior agents and are slowly eased into military affairs such as patrolling, scouting, and border vigil. Depending on the success of their endeavors, junior agents are given steadily more independence, until finally they're given the occasional assignment - such as investigations of suspicious activity, Octoling infiltration reports and that of the like.
Junior agents graduate to become official agents when they complete their first real mission, which is given to them by their superiors when they believe they are ready. These missions generally involve leaving Inkopolis and journeying into enemy territory when the need arises.
Meanwhile, affairs taking place inside of Inkopolis - such as law-breaking and general civilian management - are taken care of by the local police force.
CULTURE
The culture of Inkopolis is centered largely around the age old sport of Turf War, as well as a variety of other competitive activities. News is conveyed through an integrated variety of media, from television to radio shows - and, of course, the Internet. Music and fashion are central to the lifestyle of many Inklings, as well as various neighbor species residing within Inkopolis. While these aspects of Inkling culture are especially relevant to its youth, it's not uncommon for adult Inklings to invest in either of these! The booming fashion and music industry help to keep the economy afloat, and while great importance is placed on both, other professions are still taken seriously and regularly sought after by freshly graduated Inklings.Despite the art-based nature of much of Inkopolis' culture, the city isn't free of conflict or corruption. TECHNOLOGY
Technology in Inkopolis is extremely advanced. Their inexhaustible power source, the zapfish, are responsible for sustaining the technology-driven city. Inkopolis is in possession of numerous varieties of technology - from mundane personal items such as laptops, tablets and cell phones, its innovation is displayed most notably in the sport of Turf War. The advanced weaponry, tracking devices and spawn points best demonstrate just how advanced Inkopolis' technology has become. Spawn points provide a safety net for participants of the city's revered sporting competition, serving as something of a teleportation device.MILITIA
The city of Inkopolis is far less militarized than Octo Valley, and less importance is placed on offensive efforts. Instead, a series of soldiers known as agents are responsible for the protection of Inkopolis. They're much fewer in number than Octo Valley's military, but they do an apt job of weeding out Octarian spies and defending the city from infiltration and attack. The unsung heroes of Inkopolis, these carefully selected agents are very seldom brought to attention in any of the city's media; because of the media's strategic tendency to avoid mention of the Octarian threat, Inkopolis' few agents stay under the radar for the most part.
