Khyran is built of bone and sweat. An exhausted, fragile, crippled man, he walks with his shoulders bent as if the world were resting on them. Beyond being malnourished to the point of concern, he is missing his left leg from the calf down and must wear a prosthetic. If he changes to squid form, he loses the prosthetic and must find it to re-attach it once he reconstitutes his form.

Khyran won't talk much about the war. But it's obvious he's seen and done things he's not proud of. The missing leg and eye speak of injuries he may have sustained during whatever involvement he had against the Octolings.

He refers to the Turf War as "offensive war games for children." Unfortunately for him, the only place willing to hire a crippled man with a history of PTSD and psychological breakdowns was a janitorial position at Inkopolis.

Khyran is part of a team responsible for scrubbing down the various Turf War locations after a game's conclusion. It's no mystery to the staff (and some Turf War participants) that he absolutely despises the job. Unfortunately, it's the only way he can see to support himself presently, so he grits his teeth and bears it.

After leaving the military and rejoining civilian life, Khyran wants nothing more than to find some way to escape from the subtle propaganda he witnesses throughout the region. He believes that there are plenty of Zapfish to go around for both Octolings and Inklings alike, and that territory disputes are politically motivated.[break]

He has a skull-like face framed by his dark, slick tentacled "hair" and "beard". His most striking feature is his nose, which is too long and too pointed for his face. One of his eyes is missing and is usually covered by a patch.

When he isn't wearing his janitor jumpsuit, he can be seen wearing simple polo shirts and long pants.

It's exceptionally difficult to get Khyran to have a good time, and if he ever comes near a party, he's usually the first to leave. He's often described as the Inkling equivalent of a toothache.
