Jian
General Information:
Jian started her life born to impoverished parents. The family lived in the more shadier parts of Octo Valley, where every day was a struggle to make ends meet. Still, Jian's parents did all they could to ensure that their daughter was safe and cared for. This rough upbringing would serve her well when she was submitted into regular training and conditioning. Examinations noted that she was rather physically fit for her age and it did not take long for her to become part of the Octarian Militia. Even at the lowest rank, Jian would take whatever payment she was given to support her family back home to help them stay on their feet. Because of her natural strength and prowess for defensive battling, she was quickly considered to become a shield trooper by her superiors, a proposal she would not and could not refuse.
During her time as a normal rank soldier, her family's financial state had improved significantly after her father managed to catch a job in the local foundry. With a problem finally solved, Jian would take her full focus on her duties as part of the militia. Numerous hours of regular duty and one skirmish with a few of Inkopolis' Agents later and Jian was finally promoted to Elite. Wearing her rank proudly, she continues to serve faithfully in the Octarian Militia to this day.
Personality:
Despite her intimidating physical presence, befriending Jian will give you a stalwart companion at your side. She remains dedicated in everything she does and will not rest until her objective is complete. Both allies and friends will find that she will do whatever it takes to ensure that they are protected when she is able to do so. It is also nice to have her around when you're in a jam; while she's no real problem solver, she can find a way to wiggle free of many issues. Those especially close to her will see her more tender side and may even witness how intimate she can act around her closer friends.
Of course, her affable traits are followed by a quick temper. Her fuse is short and connected to dynamite. Angering her would not be a wise decision, as it would provoke a blind fury. Because of her training, the meaning of mercy is lost to her, especially if she's been set off. In addition, some of her mannerisms may come off as coarse due to her simple upbringing. At times, her pursuit of fulfilling her goal no matter what may do more harm than good.
Still, if you can work past her faults, you'll find an Octoling both trustworthy and cordial.

Bits Of Information:
- A quick way to gain her favor is to give her confections. She has quite the sweet tooth and delights in eating sweets of all kinds.
- When not on duty, she can be found in the more lively places of Octo Valley, such as Glowlight Plaza or resting at her home.
- She frequents Arrowhead Impasse and Bonefish Bazaar as she knows the locals and her way around the areas.
- When on duty, she mostly patrols along the surface and outskirts of Octo Valley. She does, however, hope to venture beyond the borders, regardless of her lack of discretion.
- Despite her position as an Elite, she does not hate Inklings and even finds some of their culture admirable, particularly the music and fashion. She does, however, dislike agents as they are the active enemies against the militia.

Tracer
General Information:
Tracer doesn't talk about his past much when dealing with others. He was born to a well-off family of Big Fin Squid Inklings with a mother and father in the fashion industry. While it was more or less expected of him to take after the family business, Tracer picked up an interest in criminology during his schooling at Kingfish Campus. While his parents weren't exactly supportive of his goal to become a detective, due to the potential dangers of the profession, he continued his studies while also running solo on the Turf War scene. Time passed as he completed both his education and managed to claw his way to S+ rank in the rankings, leading him to apply for, and later be accepted into the police force as a detective.
While working with the force, he obtained quite the reputation for his keen sense of observation. His capabilities helped the force solve the more baffling cases. Tracer had made plenty of friends...and enemies during this line of work. He continued his workings while maintaining a presence on the Turf War scene to keep his rank at S+.
Unfortunately, Tracer was about to see how crooked the force could be. During a certain case he refuses to divulge the details of, he had discovered that several members of the police were in on the act. He soon brought the culprits to justice and later handed in his badge under the pretense that the force wasn't as trustworthy as it seemed. For a time, he drifted, once again returning to the Turf Wars to put coin in his pocket before opening up his own Private Investigator office at the suggestion of his younger sister. Tracer now spends his days taking cases for the people of Inkopolis, provided they have the cash to pay for his services.
Personality:
Tracer comes off as a cold, no-nonsense individual. He tends to be cool and collected, making his mood more stable than most. He's on the quiet side, only really speaking when spoken to or if he has something that needs to be said. Most of what he does carries a serious outlook and he doesn't like to waste time, especially when he's on a case.
Beneath the cold exterior lies an honest and loyal individual, though it may be difficult to find as he warms up slowly to others. What is even more difficult is to see him smile. Because he has a more serious outlook on things, his sense of humor is constrained. While he doesn't have much in the ways of small talk, he doesn't mind holding a conversation with others.

Mother (Name undisclosed): On decent terms. Communication is infrequent, but he occasionally let's her know how he's doing.
Father (Name undisclosed): Relationship is rocky. They do not communicate and Tracer resents his father's opposition to his current career path.
Younger Sister (Kacey): Loves. She visits him often and he occasionally sees her off to her battles.

- Because of his upbringing, Tracer has an appreciation for the finer things in life, particularly when it comes to food and drink.
- He picked up his smoking habit during his days of drifting.
- Tracer will refute any queries of his past as he'd rather keep his focus on the present.
- He holds no disdain towards Octarians and would even accept a case from them if they required his services.
- While he's handy with his magnum, he also has a fair degree of hand-to-hand experience.
- He often can be found gazing at the setting sun during the evening.
